Late-Night Taco & Burrito Stands Near QMUL

Your QMUL late night taco and burrito survival guide for London, covering Mile End, Whitechapel, and the City campuses, so you always know where to eat when deadlines explode and hunger wins.

Mile End and Whitechapel radius

TacoSmash, Mile End: Five minutes from QMUL. It is “French tacos” plus burgers, so think grilled wraps with fillings, sauces, and melted cheese. Handy for late cravings, and multiple listings show very late or even all-night patterns. 568 Mile End Road E3 4PH.
Order tips: loaded fries, build-your-own wraps.

Little Fires, Bethnal Green Road: Small Oaxacan spot with tacos, quesadillas, and a serious mezcal list. Hours are usually Tue–Wed to 11 pm, Thu–Sat to midnight, Sun to 10 pm. ~15–18 minutes on foot.
Order tips: pastor or carnitas tacos, margarita, call it a day.

Lupita, Whitechapel: Straightforward sit-down Mexican that shows “Late Night” on TripAdvisor, so it works for post-evening classes. 60–62 Commercial Street.

Chicome, near Whitechapel: Family-run, polished plates. Official hours show Tue–Sat noon–10 pm, so treat it as an earlier option. 2 St Katharine’s Way.

City and Shoreditch for the truly late

Los Mochis London City, Liverpool Street: Rooftop, big views, and long hours. The site lists Mon–Wed to 1 am, Thu–Sat to 3 am, Sun to midnight. Easy hop from Mile End or Whitechapel.

Order tips: a round of tacos and a tequila or three. The late close is the headline.

Santo Remedio Taqueria, Shoreditch: Proper taco joint and a student-friendly walk from the east. Most days close around 11 pm, Sunday earlier.

DF Tacos, Shoreditch: Casual tacos near Brick Lane and Spitalfields. Useful when you are already by Liverpool Street.

Charterhouse Square and West Smithfield backups

Clinics or libraries kept you late in Barbican or Smithfield

Taqueria, Exmouth Market: Ten minutes from Farringdon, a nice “real tortillas, classic fillings” answer. Hours run to 11 or 11:30 pm on busy nights.
Order tips: al pastor or Baja-style fish, plus a classic margarita.

Santo Remedio Shoreditch is also in range if you do not mind the walk or a quick bus.

Lincoln’s Inn Fields and Holborn area

Wahaca, Covent Garden: Big tables and predictable hours, usually to 11 pm Thu–Sat. Good for groups after evening classes.

El Pastor, Soho: If you drift a little west, this is the taco spot with a late-night mezcal basement. The Soho site lists Wed–Sat to 1:30 am.

What to order, quickly

Classic tacos: pastor, carnitas, fish. Look for corn tortillas at Taqueria and Santo Remedio.

Late-night comfort: TacoSmash is “French tacos,” so it is melty, saucy, and chaotic in a good way. Perfect after a library sprint.

Fancy night out: Los Mochis has a fusion menu and a skyline. Your group chat will forgive the bill when the clock hits 2 am.

After-11 pm cheat sheet

Near Mile End: TacoSmash is your best bet. Check the listing that shows closing through the night.

Near Whitechapel or the City: Los Mochis runs the latest by far.

Before midnight with sit-down: Little Fires or Santo Remedio.

Central fallback: El Pastor Soho keeps serving well past midnight on weekends. Planning a move to London? Might as well grab a spicy bite at that.

We bridge the gap between students and the perfect student homes around the world.

Since 2009, we've been building the world’s first student housing platform, one that grew into the largest in the world. Over 10 million students from over 150+ countries used the platform to find student accommodation for universities across the globe. As pioneers of this industry, we then took on the mission of expanding it into the world's largest ecosystem for student life and not just housing.
